Tall Weaver Mount Adapters for the CZ 452

Weaver Tall Adapter Closeup

These mount adapters are made in two versions: 11mm and 3/8" or tipoff. The 11mm adapters fit most models of CZ's 452, and other guns with an 11mm/60 degree dovetail. The 3/8" or tipoff adapters fit the CZ American Classic's dovetail as well as the nominal 3/8"/45 degree dovetails on most 22LR rifles. Once attached, you can mount a scope using Weaver-style or Mil Std 1913 (Picatinny) rings. They are aluminum with a black satin finish and are attached with brass set screws. Best of all they can be attached with an Allen key rather than by drilling and tapping the receiver.

These mounts are tall - they add roughly 1/2" (12mm) to the height of the receiver. With medium or high rings you can clear the sight base on the Lux / Special. You can also mount extra large scopes (50mm and 56mm) on the sightless rifles. Some use them to get a more upright head position when shooting Smallbore Silhouette. They fit midway between the low profile adapters and the BKL Weaver adapters.

Each adapter attaches to the dovetail with a single brass-tipped set screw. Each set weights 0.7 ounces or 19 grams. They are made of aluminium and are anodized in a black satin finish.

Tipoff-to-Weaver fits all CZ Americans and the 17 HMR Models. The 11mm-to-Weaver model fits the Lux, Special, Trainer, Varmint, Silhouette, Style, and Scout (except for the 17 HMR models).

Burris Signature System

Burris makes a line of rings that have a plastic insert that sits between the scope and the metal of the rings. This provides a number of benefits:

When using my adapers I would strongly recommend using Burris' Signature Zee rings. The main reason is because there are always small alignment errors in any mounting system (not just these adapters). Unless you lap standard rings these misalignments will put stress on the scope. The spherical bearings in the Signature rings will mount the scope without putting stress, bends or ring marks on the scope.

Another advantage of the Burris Signature system is that you can adjust the forward tilt of the scope to extend its adjustment range. I once ran out of adjustment while trying to shoot at 200 yards. That pushed me to convert to the Signature rings. I put a +20 PosAlign insert in the back ring and a -5 in the front ring to cant the front of the scope downward and increase the effective range of the scope well past 200 yards. At normal ranges I am looking through the center of the scope which has the brightest image and least distortion.

If you purchase the Signature rings be sure to order the PosAlign insert kit that has all three sizes 20, 10, and 5 thousandths. It is much cheaper to buy all three at once and they can be combined to fix all sorts of problems. As an example you could put a +20 in back and -10 in front to get the equivalent of 30 thousanths elevation with shims. This would have the effect of moving the point of impact roughly 30 minutes of angle (30 inches at 100 yards) with the rings spaced at 3.6 inches.

I cannot recommend the Burris Signature Zee rings enough.
