These mount adapters come in two basic styles: two-piece and one piece. The two piece adapters are suitable for most mounting situations, are the lightest in weight, and are the most adjustable. The one-piece mounts come in 3 styles and I carry two: the bolt action and cantilevered. The bolt action has a cutout for the ejection port and the cantilevered has an extension that looks a bit like a diving board. All are finished in a matte black that blends with most guns. The mounts are fairly tall adding about 0.7 inches to the top of the receiver. This is an asset for anyone looking for a more upright shooting postion or who is mounting a very large scope (50mm or larger).
Notice:I try to maintain sufficient stock to fill orders however the demand for the BKL adapters and rings has been exceeding supply and there are often delays in delivery. Currently (5-Jun-06) I have nothing in stock and have stopped taking orders. I will be making refunds on any existing orders. My Tall Weaver Adapters are one alternative.

The two-piece adapter (BKL Model 566) is suitable where you want the greatest mounting flexibility, lightest weight (1.4 ounces) and lowest cost. They have two clamp screws per adapter. |

The bolt action (BKL Model 558) bridges over the ejection port and attaches with three clamp screws. The one-pice adapter can be easily removed from the rifle with the scope and rings attached. This makes it easy to switch from shooting with a scope to shooting with iron sights. It weighs 1.8 ounces and has 3 clamp screws. |

The cantilever version (BKL Model 554) is great for situations where you need a more compact mounting option or can't use the bolt action style adapter. Again you can remove the entire scope without disturbing the ring setup. It weighs 2.1 ounces and has 2 clamp screws. |
The mounts are very high profile - they add roughly 0.7" (18mm) to the height of the receiver. In the photo below I have my Simmons 1048 6.5-20x44mmAO mounted using high Burris Signature Zee rings. You are seeing a little less than 3/8" (10mm) clearance over CZ's sight base. The medium Burris Signature Zees could be used to close up the gap a bit but there will still be a fair amount of clearance. While a high mounting might not be ideal for a hunting rifle it can be excellent for competitive offhand shooting if you like to keep your head upright or need to keep the gun lower for support.
The BKL clamping system is unique because it works equally well with both 11mm, 60 degree dovetails (used on European rifles and many airguns) and 3/8", 45 degree dovetails (used on most 22s).

Burris makes a line of rings that have a plastic insert that sits between the scope and the metal of the rings. This provides a number of benefits:
When using my adapers I would strongly recommend using Burris' Signature Zee rings. The main reason is because there are always small alignment errors in any mounting system (not just these adapters). Unless you lap standard rings these misalignments will put stress on the scope. The spherical bearings in the Signature rings will mount the scope without putting stress, bends or ring marks on the scope.
Another advantage of the Burris Signature system is that you can adjust the forward tilt of the scope to extend its adjustment range. I once ran out of adjustment while trying to shoot at 200 yards. That pushed me to convert to the Signature rings. I put a +20 PosAlign insert in the back ring and a -5 in the front ring to cant the front of the scope downward and increase the effective range of the scope well past 200 yards. At normal ranges I am looking through the center of the scope which has the brightest image and least distortion.

If you purchase the Signature rings be sure to order the PosAlign insert kit that has all three sizes 20, 10, and 5 thousandths. It is much cheaper to buy all three at once and they can be combined to fix all sorts of problems. As an example you could put a +20 in back and -10 in front to get the equivalent of 30 thousanths elevation with shims. This would have the effect of moving the point of impact roughly 30 minutes of angle (30 inches at 100 yards) with the rings spaced at 3.6 inches.
I cannot recommend the Burris Signature Zee rings enough.
